Following the grave,
the serious bombing of the city of Milan during the 2nd World
War, the gallery was badly damaged. Restoration works began
in 1953 and the construction firm tried to recreate Mengoni's
original project.
This street connects Palazzo Marino and Duomo, this ideal
bridge between the sacred and the profane, remains the “salotto”
of the city, a central point where one may abandon the frenetic
life of the city and enter in a new dimension. Elegant, a
little out of time, where the light is softer and sounds become
muffled; one feels the atmosphere of history.
